Japanese knotweed is actually not bamboo at all, though we completely understand the confusion. It looks remarkably similar to bamboo with its tall, hollow, jointed stems, which is why many people assume they are related.
Japanese knotweed is actually a flowering plant, and it produces abundant clusters of small white flowers in late summer that bees absolutely love. It is one of the last major nectar flows of the season in the Northeast, which is what gives our Knotweed honey its bold, rich, distinctive flavor.
